Who is this Course designed for
One of the primary roles of Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) as Victoria’s energy safety regulator, is to ensure the safe and efficient supply of energy to all Victorians. It includes ensuring that the tradespersons who undertake work on domestic and commercial properties are appropriately registered to carry out work safely.Â
If your primary work involves the repair, replacement or maintenance of electrical equipment, then this course is a prerequisite to allow you to apply for a license to carry out the low voltage electrical disconnecting and reconnecting of this equipment.Â

3. Language, Literacy & NumeracyApplicants must undertake a language, literacy and numeracy assessment prior to beginning the qualification. Results will be assessed on an individual level by the assessor.
Depending upon the level of support required for the language, literacy or numeracy an alternative training and assessment methods may be used or the learners will be recommended to pursue Foundation Skills program, which will help them fulfil the LLN gap and achieve the qualification.
Students are required to attend Face to Face classes and complete Self paced tasks prior to attending the classes. Students enrolled in Restricted Electrical Worker’s License- Class 2 required to complete below listed units to complete the course with QTE. Please contact Energy Safe Victoria’s Licencing Department on 1800 815 721 and ask to complete their pre-approval process to confirm which unit is appropriate for you.

Upon completion:
Student upon completion will receive Statement of attainment for the units of competency completed as per the course structure.
Please note, students will be required to complete an independent Practical Licensing Assessment to be eligible to apply for the licence with ESV and comply with other stipulated requirements. This assessment must be carried out by an ESV approved assessment body.
The course will be delivered face-to-face in a classroom setup along with access to a simulated environment that covers the workplace performance. The face-to-face class will include lectures, discussions, practice, formative assessments and summative assessments.Â
Learners will have the option to complete their assessments online through Cloud Assess, QTE online learning platform.
Attendance is mandatory to obtain a certificate of completion.

- 3 x Saturday’s plus 2 weeks self-paced study
- 3 Weekdays plus 2 weeks self-paced study
- Friday, Saturday & Sunday plus 2 weeks self-paced study
Delivery Method
- Blended Delivery: Face-to-Face and Self-paced study (3 full-time face-to-face classes/ 5 partial-study faceto-face classes + 2 weeks of selfpaced study)
- Students attending this course will need the following items:
- Appropriate PPE, including:
- Boots with reinforced toes
- Safety glasses
- Long sleeve work shirt
- Full-length work pants
- A pair of rubber low voltage insulating inner gloves, rated to at least 650 Volts which meet either the AS2225 or IEC903 standards and a pair of flame-resistant leather outer gloves for mechanical protection.

The time taken to complete will depend on the learner and the delivery option selected.
Intake Dates – QTR offers monthly intakes and the course may be commenced in your discretion. Please inquire with the Student Administration regarding intake dates.
Course Duration – 608 hours delivered over a period of 7 months. The course duration may vary upon learners’ prior experience, knowledge and abilities.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment pathway to gain a qualification if you believe that you have the skills, knowledge and experience gained through work, training courses and work based training to meet the requirements of the course.
If you have required skills and experience in a sector, and can provide supporting evidences, you may be eligible for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL), which will provide you a certification based on your experience.
